Benefits of FTA
The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement was signed by Commerce and Industry minister Piyush Goyal and UAE's Minister of economy Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri after 88 days of negotiations. India, UAE sign Free Trade agreement which will prpvide benefits to India .
•It is set to reduce tariffs for 80% of goods .
•It gives zero duty access to 90% of India's export in a number of labour oriented sectors to UAE.
•It is expected to boost annual bilateral trade to $100billion within 5 years of adoption, up from about $60billion currently.
•It will provide opportunities for business in both the economies.
•India had agreed to concessional import duties on gold imports Up to 200 tonnes per year.
•This agreement provides permanent safeguard mechanism to protect business in both the countries to prevent any unnecessary surge in volumes of imports.
